6.You have noticed a personality change in the gambler as his or
her gambling progresses.
7. He/She consistently lies to cover up or deny his or her
gambling activities.
8. He/She faithfully promises to stop gambling; begs, pleads for
another chance, yet gambles again and again.
9. He/She borrows money to gamble with or to pay gambling debts.
10. He/She uses guilt induction as a method of shifting
responsibilities for his or her gambling onto you.

What Can You Do?
1.Remember you are not the only family facing this problem.
2.You can help by talking the problem through, but it is better if you involve a trained person outside the family.
3.Remember,that it is a serious issue and gamblers cannot ‘just give up’.
4.Take a firm stand.You may feel it is easier to give in to demands and to trust everything he or she says, this only allows them to avoid facing the problem.
5.Leave the responsibility for the gambling and its consequences with them. Help them admit to it and to work at overcoming the dependency.
6.Do not condemn them,this can be very unhelpful and may force them back to gambling. However, setting firm and fair boundaries to their behaviour is constructive.
7.Be careful when trusting them with money,wait until the dependency is OVER.It may be helpful to manage their money for a short period.
